Various posts have surfaced showing Nsikan Daniel aka Jay Boogie in a critical medical condition. The self-proclaimed Nigeria’s most beautiful cross-dresser has been battling for life over the past weeks since a botched BBL surgery. 

A friend of the cross-dresser, one Dr Loveth, shared an Instagram post stating that the cross-dresser has already lost the function of two kidneys. Other videos have surfaced showing the cross-dresser in a terrible state in a dialysis machine. 

Jay Boogie has also shared several tearful videos crying out that he/she is dying and has lost everything. Friends have appealed to organizations and the public for financial aid to enable Boogie to get advanced medical care abroad.

However, Nigerians have responded to these calls in mixed ways. While some express empathy for the cross-dresser, others feel that Jay Boogie deserves what he/she is getting and that the event should serve as a lesson to others who are unsatisfied with their gender and bodies.

Nigeria is a religiously conservative country with little tolerance for LGBTQ+ people. Jay Boogie’s case tests how far Nigerians are willing to go in forgiveness and tolerance.

Transgender socialite Idris Okuneye known as Bobrisky, has taken to his Instagram page to blast gay suspects recently arrested in Delta State, Nigeria. Bobrisky wrote, “You all deserve how you were treated sad truth… why not relocate to where you are welcome.”

The controversial socialite was reacting to news of the arrest of over 60 persons in Delta State earlier this week for conducting a suspected gay wedding. Bobrisky expressed his disappointment that the gay suspects had ignored Nigeria’s Anti-gay Law and unnecessarily put themselves in harm’s way.

Surprisingly, some social media users have praised Bobrisky for reprimanding the gay suspects. They argue that Bobrisky is correct on this issue. However, others have called out the socialite for hypocrisy, accusing him of being the chief instigator of LGBTQI+ in Nigeria and being a role model to the gay suspects.

Scott Fisher, CEO of the company that managed sound for Cardi B’s concert has put up the infamous mic the singer hurled at a rude audience member in July for sale on eBay. Scott stated that he wants to turn the unfortunate incident into something good. Money from the sale of the Sure Axient Digital Microphone will be donate to two charities. As of today August 5, bids to buy the mic have exceeded 99K USD ON eBay.

In a post on his verified Instagram page, Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau has announced a decision to formally separate from his wife Sophie Gregoire Trudeau. The post made on August 2 states that the decision was reached after “many meaningful and difficult discussions”.

The Prime Minister promised that despite the separation, they will continue to remain a close family. Trudeau appealed to the public to respect the family’s privacy.

As of today, Trudeau’s post has gathered over 181,000 likes and 21,000 comments on Instagram. The comments range from sympathy for the family to joy at the predicament of the Prime Minister. Many Canadians have expressed their frustration with Trudeau’s extreme leftist policies.

Cardi B responded fire for fire at an unruly female audience member who threw some yet-to-be-identified drink from a large cup at her during a performance in Las Vegas on Saturday, July 29. In response, the rap music superstar threw her cordless mic, hitting the woman directly.

Cardi B had been performing the song ‘Bodak Yellow’ when the incident happened. Security quickly came to the rescue, as Cardi continued to scream at the woman. The woman was removed from the venue, Cardi’s mic was returned, and the concert continued.

An embarrassing video has surfaced online showing the convoy of Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State stuck in flooded roads. An unidentified male voice in the video can be heard reprimanding the government for neglecting the needs of the citizenry, including providing good roads and proper drainage systems. Speaking in pidgin English, the speaker shamed the governor for using substandard approaches in dealing with flooding problems in the state. The speaker stressed that it served the governor right, as he is now a victim of his irresponsibility.

In several tweets today, Elon Musk has hinted at the possible change of Twitter’s current logo. Musk intends to replace it with the symbol X. Musk tweeted that although he likes the current logo, he prefers X.  

According to Musk, X “embodies the imperfections in us that makes us unique… this change should have been done long ago”.

Musk’s current move is viewed as strategies to reposition Twitter as a super app comparable to the Chinese WeChat.

In another tweet, the billionaire commented, "If a good enough logo is posted tonight, we’ll make it go live tomorrow…and soon we shall bid goodbye to the Twitter brand and all the birds.”

In a tweet some hours ago, journalist David Hundeyin intimated to the public about his detention at the Harare International Airport in Zimbabwe. According to the tweet, he was arrested for not having an entry visa, despite Nigeria’s visa-free relations with the Southern African country.

Hundeyin said that he had been locked in a small and smelly room alongside a Ugandan lady for over seven hours. The journalist has since posted more tweets calling on relevant authorities to let him go so he can catch a flight back to Addis Ababa. Hundeyin’s tweets have gathered over 6,000 retweets and 7,000 likes. His followers are appealing to both Zimbabwean and Nigerian authorities to come to his aid quickly.

David Hundeyin’s arrest comes just a few days after Seychelles banned Nigerians from entry over accusations of drug trafficking, fraud, and other offenses. Many Nigerians fell victim to the ban, as visas were denied, and entry was refused at the border.

Sadly, Nigerians face embarrassment and difficulty in moving within and outside Africa, as various countries have placed bans or severe restrictions on Nigerians for various reasons. These countries include the United States, the United Kingdom, United Arab Emirates, and Turkey.

Nigerians hope that the new Tinubu-led administration will put in serious efforts to restore Nigeria’s international relations within and outside Africa and restore the country’s battered international image.

Threads, a new social platform launched just last week, has reached over 100 million users globally, surpassing Open AI’s ChatGPT in growth. Prior to Threads, the generative AI model, ChatGPT, was the fastest-growing app, reaching 100 million users in just two months of its launch in January 2023. 

Mark Zuckerberg commented that all of Threads users are organic, as the platform has not turned on any promotions.  

Since its launch, Threads has continued to attract users who welcome it as a welcome relief to Twitter.  Twitter is perceived to have become increasingly toxic and confusing under Elon Musk. While the new social platform app is doing great, users have expressed concerns about whether it would be monetized in the future and if Meta will be able to sustain users’ interests.

Over 30 million followers worldwide have joined Mark Zuckerberg on his new social platform - Threads. Built to rival Twitter, the new Instagram-linked social platform allows users to share threads of 500 words and up to 10 photos, unlike Twitter’s limit of four photos. Threads also allows videos of 5 mins, unlike Twitter’s 2 mins 20 secs. Currently, the platform is only accessible via mobile. However, one’s profile is visible on a desktop screen via Instagram.

Some social media users have greeted the emergence of Threads as a welcome relief to Elon Musk’s chaotic takeover of Twitter, coupled with confusing new rules about verification and the number of tweets unverified members can read in a day, etc. Other users have expressed concern over the extent of freedom of expression on the new platform, wondering if it would also allow non-woke content as does Twitter.

In response to the new development, shareholders’ confidence has increased for Meta’s stocks. On June 5, Meta’s stocks reached a 4% high, reaching $295.29, marking its highest performance since January 2022. Fierce competition from TikTok and YouTube, saw Meta’s share price dwindle in the first quarter of 2022. Some analysts have forecasted that at this rate, Threads following and market share, will be as big, if not bigger than Twitter in four months. 

Zuckerberg’s decision to establish Threads is evidence of his bitter rivalry with Musk. Currently, both are training for a caged fight to be announced soon.
